It will be covered (we learn later) by the following media:
Once the press filtered out, we reluctantly had to say goodbye to our
truck team. They had just received their new assignments the day before
and were getting ready to hit the road and go back to work. First, Lenny,
Gary (and Mugsy) with American Red Ball started up their engine and slowly
drove toward the hangar door. Then Alan with the DeVries truck released
the brakes and slowly rolled by, and with a final blast from the air horn,
rounded the corner and disappeared from sight.
A Wind Tunnel meeting was scheduled at 1:00 pm, but the press conference ran over. The team stopped to grab a quick lunch at 1:00pm from the NASA cafeteria. After lunch, we walked over to the meeting. Pete Zell went over the action items which were handed out and discussed what each entailed. Also, a chart with dates and milestones was attached. Team members will be making several trips to NASA in the upcoming months in preparation for wind tunnel testing. After some discussion, we were given a tour of the 80 x 120 wind tunnel. Wow!!
After the meeting, we returned to Hangar 1. The contractors with the
fencing were waiting. We rolled the airplane back to it's permanent position
in the hangar and covered it with plastic sheeting. The fencing was completed
and secured. The team tools and equipment were locked in the storage room
behind the airplane.
It was time. . . . for now. . . . to leave our little plane in NASA's
care and return home
