Saturday, April 25 - Dos Palos Eagle Field

Saturday morning, after a quick breakfast, the team returned to the airport to get the trucks. We then said goodbye to Fresno and headed for Dos Palos - Eagle Field.

This was the initial flight training base for one of our members. In about two hours, our team arrived at the big hangar, where we were met by Joe Davis. As planned, the trucks were moved into the hangar. One backed in and the other headed in until they sat - nose to nose - with about 1/4 inch separation.

The chairs were being set up in front of the raised stage. We had a mixture of both parents and kids totaling about 200 people. As usual, during the presentation, questions were asked of the audience, and those giving the right answer were brought up on stage for some special handouts. It amazed us that out here in the middle of this isolated area, so many showed up. We heard from one parent that we were competing with about four other events in the area - one being the opening of little league season!

After the presentation, we were able to look around the museum and explore. Joe Davis also showed our group a film which showed the actual building of Eagle Field. We watched as the hangar we were sitting in was built from the ground up in an accelerated video!
