Sunday, April 26 - San Jose - Toyon Elementary School

We headed up the road for Toyon Elementary, where we would meet teacher Juanita Ryan.  Juanita is also Chairman of the San Francisco Section of the AIAA. Also joining us today was Wright Flyer Project Chairman Jack Cherne and also Ed Marin.  They flew in the night before.

When we arrived at the school, all types of activities were going on outside with the kids. They were making their own kites, folding and flying paper airplanes and creating - of all things - "edible Wright Flyer airplanes" out of graham crackers, pretzel sticks and frosting. They were wonderful! Juanita presented our team members with their own "Toyon Tigers" tee shirts. No one was left out, and team mascot Mugsy Malone proudly walked around and showed off his new duds. He was definitely a hit. While we were setting up our displays, we were treated to a breakfast of coffee, orange juice, croissants and pastries.

(I'm betting the kids are winning - the Webmaster)

After the presentation, the team members found themselves in another autograph session. Each of our team received a lunch sack of goodies including the sandwich of their choice and drink. We sat outside to eat, enjoying the beautiful day. Kites and paper airplanes were flying and more than one of our team members joined in the fun!

Finally, we had to say our goodbyes....
